The community fund has introduced new criteria for large charities wanting to claim funds.
Large charities applying for money from the fund will be expected to cover more than one region. But there will be no upper limit on the amount that they can apply for.
The new criteria are a feature of the lottery distributor's new £30m strategic grants programme.
Chairperson of the community fund Diana Brittan said: "We believe that voluntaries will welcome this fresh approach to funding."
The fund will also be specifying, for the first time, what outcomes they want to see from their grants.
