The link below will provide a full copy of a new report written by Anthony Douglas, who is executive director of community services for Havering council.
'Is anybody out there?' examines the extent of the recruitment crisis many local authorities in London are facing in their attempts to recruit social workers.
It has been launched to coincide with Community Care's Care in the Capital week (17-21 June) which is designed to raise awareness of the huge problems social care providers in London are having in providing basic services because of the staff shortage.
Care in the Capital week is supported by Celsian.
