The Scottish executive has awarded an additional £400,000 for bursaries for post graduate social work students.
The announcement was made by Cathy Jamieson, minister for education and young people, nine weeks after she had launched the executive’s £3.5 million action plan for attracting more people into social work.
Jamieson said: "We have an immediate challenge to encourage people to consider social work and social care as a career, and to get people into training courses which will help them improve the quality of service provided."
