Two-year wait for services, says report

One in three people who seek help for severe mental health problems are turned away, according to a report by mental health charity Rethink.

The report, Reaching People Early, also found that people experiencing early signs of mental illness wait two years for help, and those showing signs of psychosis wait an average of 18 months for treatment.

Launching the report at the start of a campaign to reduce waiting times, Rethink chief executive Cliff Prior said: "The delays are built into a system that has suffered from decades of underfunding."
