A joint review of East Sussex social services department found many older people and some vulnerable adults are not able to access services. The report from the Social Services Inspectorate and the Audit Commission highlights long waits for assessments and services as well as a failure by the authority to manage its resources.
But children's services are improving, say inspectors. The authority has strengthened the management of social work services, prioritising services for looked-after children, and introducing a new assessment framework for children in need.
