Child protection services in Vale of Glamorgan Council are not serving children well, according to an inspection by the Social Services Inspectorate for Wales.
The inspectors found that services were improving, but considerable progress was still needed. A key issue was the difficulty in recruiting social workers with the skills and experience needed to protect children.
Meanwhile, an inspection of Denbighshire's child protection services found that more consistency is needed to ensure cases receive the attention that child protection guidance requires. But social workers were praised for acting promptly when they receive information about children at risk and for working well with other professionals.
