Anglesey Council is considering spending £130,000 on building a secure unit for an 11-year-old boy with a history of arson and sexual problems.

The boy, who is considered to be a risk to himself and others, could be housed on his own in a unit surrounded by a six-foot-high fence. He has been living in a secure unit in Leeds, which is costing Anglesey's social services department £3,500 a week. It is understood that the council is looking at a property on Anglesey, north Wales, that is isolated and where they can provide the boy with a high level of supervision as part of his rehabilitation programme.

A spokesperson for the council refused to comment.
