In its response to the government's review of charity law, the
Charity Commission says it wants its regulatory role to be more
clearly defined without changing its name.
The Prime Minister's strategy unit's consultation review suggests
that the commission be renamed the Charity Regulation Authority and
become a corporate body.
The commission welcomes the proposal to convert it into a corporate
body "with clearer independence and clearer statutory
relationships", but rejects changing its name as a way of achieving
this.
