Learning difficulty charity Mencap has agreed an out of court settlement for an undisclosed sum in a claim for unfair dismissal brought by an ex-employee.
Kath Jones, a former Mencap senior manager, argued she was unfairly dismissed because of a disability and that the charity had not made reasonable arrangements to accommodate her during the interview process for another role.
A Manchester employment tribunal ruled Jones was fairly dismissed, although the charity had failed to make reasonable adjustments for her interview. Jones said she was "satisfied" with her compensation.
