The RNID has announced up to 19 job losses but claimed services will not be affected.
John Low, the charity's chief executive, said that continued economic decline and the failure of the charity's "anticipated legacy income" to materialise had forced them to reduce the number of staff.
He added that the RNID had to act now to reduce their planned 2003-2004 expenditure by £1.2 million in order to safeguard the ongoing financial viability of the charity.
Despite the loss of up to 19 staff the charity say the redundancies will not effect their services to deaf and hard of hearing people on the ground. "Frontline services won't be effected because the job cuts apply to workers in support roles", said a spokesperson.
The RNIB announced plans to make 100 people redundant earlier this year.
