The government has published a new bill which will establish the new Commission for Social Care Inspection to supercede the National Care Standards Commission.
The Health and Social Care (Community Health and Standards) Bill also contains provision for new NHS foundation trusts.
The new commission will also take on the inspection role of the Social Services Inspectorate and the SSI/Audit Commission joint review team.
