Young people to contribute to new curriculum

A sub-group of young people has been set up as part of the Government’s working group on reforming the school curriculum for 14 to 19 year olds.

The new group, called the Young People’s Contact Group, is to gather information over the next three months on what issues young people consider important. They will then consult young people on specific proposals for change.

The working group, chaired by former chief inspector of education Mike Tomlinson, has the job of turning into concrete proposals the recommendations from the strategy document 14-19:opportunity and excellence.  The recommendations include a broader curriculum for young people in which vocational experience can contribute to recognised qualifications.
