Study proposes better hostel links

More than half of children living in temporary accommodation have witnessed or experienced violence and two-thirds have experienced disruption to their education, new research has found.

The report, written by supported housing charity Carr-Gomm and funded by the Children's Fund, states that the high levels of emotional, health and educational needs among children in temporary accommodation are not being met.

It recommends an extension of the role of link social workers working between area teams and hostels and more collaborative services.

The research was carried out in east Leeds.
