Education schemes pass Ofsted test

The government's flagship partnership schemes for tackling educational achievement for vulnerable children have been given a clean bill of health in an Ofsted report.

Of the 18 Children's Fund First Wave Partnerships visited by Ofsted, the Audit Commission and the Social Services Inspectorate, 16 were judged as performing satisfactorily and two as good.

The partnerships, including local agencies and voluntary organisations, take a co-ordinated approach to meeting the needs of children at risk of social exclusion, setting up services across health, social care and education. The report says services are well targeted and engaging children and their families, and rates of participation are good.
