Two-thirds of learning providers are considering changing their practice and range of courses because of the national strategy for neighbourhood renewal, according to a report by the Learning and Skills Development Agency.

The study finds that most providers want to broaden the range of courses they offer to attract "hard to reach" groups. But few providers are offering the full range of skills needed by residents, community leaders and practitioners involved in regeneration, it says.

Author Sue Taylor said learning providers needed to know their communities well, have strong management and delivery structures, and adequate resources to be successful.
