A new independent commission to review the way the Welsh
assembly supports the voluntary sector is to be established.
The assembly’s social justice and regeneration minister
Edwina Hart has asked the commission to report to her by March
2004.
Hart said: "There are around 30,000 voluntary and community
organisations in Wales, and huge numbers of people volunteer on a
regular basis, giving their time, energy and experience for the
benefit of others. They are essential to the fabric of local
communities across Wales.”
The commission is expected to begin its work almost
immediately.
