Social work training in Scotland will benefit from an £11 million package announced by Euan Robson, deputy minister for education and young people, writes Maggie Wood.
The minister stressed the importance of continued professional development for social workers. New measures include a social care national workforce group, £11 million for local authority and postgraduate training, and the promotion of a new social work honours degree.
The minister will chair the first meeting of the National Workforce Group on 28 October. The group will produce a national education and training strategy, improve workforce information, and support recruitment and retention of social workers.
