'Centres needed to provide good food'

Homeless people are having to choose between eating and paying for other essentials, a survey from a housing charity has revealed.

Housing Justice chief executive Robina Rafferty called for an increase in properly funded day centres to provide more homeless people with access to good food.

Three out of every four homeless people have to decide between buying food or using their limited resources to buy other essentials, finds the charity's survey which was published last week.

Although almost three-quarters of homeless people interviewed at day centres across England said they were interested in eating well, more than half said they found it difficult to do so.
