Mental health officers (MHOs) for Edinburgh Council social work department have “withdrawn goodwill’ from all new referrals to the service.
An offer of an additional £650 per year for qualified workers made by the council was rejected as “derisory”, and talks with the council managers have failed to resolve the dispute. The action began on 29 March.
A Unison spokesperson said that MHOs will continue with their current caseload until each case is concluded, but that workers will not be taking on new cases.
