A £15 million fund to provide support to parents has been launched by the government.
The fund, first announced in the 2002 spending review, will go to national and local organisations providing parenting support. It is to be managed by the National Family and Parenting Institute.
Another £4.9 million will go to organisations providing support to couples through the Marriage and Relationship Support Grant programme.
Children’s minister Margaret Hodge said parents preferred
to turn to voluntary organisations for help, and this funding would
enable them to provide the appropriate services.
