A dedicated helpline for older people has been launched by the
Scottish minister for finance and public services Andy Kerr, writes
Maggie Wood.
Visiting the Scottish Pensions Association headquarters in
Edinburgh, Kerr said that the need for clear impartial information
from a trusted source was essential for older people who prefer
using the phone to access information.
The helpline will be managed by Age Concern Scotland on behalf of a
consortium of organisations with a grant from the Scottish
executive of £125 000. Callers will receive advice on
benefits, housing, health and community care, and pensions.
