Former Camden social services director Jane Held has been appointed interim director of regulation at the General Social Care Council, writes Derren Hayes.
Held, who suddenly quit her job at Camden, takes up her post this week while the GSCC undertakes the permanent recruitment of the role. She will help oversee the registration of all social workers to the social work register by April 2005.
Since leaving Camden, Held has been working at the Commission for Social Care Inspection, and has also been director at Southend. It was rumoured she left Camden because of the council failed to get three stars in last year’s social services star ratings.
At the same time former director of standards and regulation at GSCC, Mike Wardle has been appointed to the new post of deputy chief executive and director of strategy.
