The Convention of Scottish Local Authorities has warned that the distribution mechanism for Supporting People money over the next three years will have a "devastating" impact on some councils.

Spokesperson for social work and health improvement Eric Jackson said nine councils would be hit by cuts of over 25 per cent.

He said: "As this announcement does not contain any allowance for inflation over the spending review period the real cuts for the worst affected councils will be significantly more than the executive's estimates."
