Registered social workers called on the General Social Care Council last month for more details on what they need to do to fulfil their post-registration training and learning (PRTL) requirements.
Registered social workers will have to re-register with the GSCC every three years and complete 15 days, or 90 hours of PRTL, over this period. Failure to do so could result in a charge of professional misconduct.
But current advice is vague. PRTL requirements can be met through a range of activities that could reasonably be expected to advance the social worker’s professional development or contribute to the development of the profession as a whole.
Delegates at a GSCC annual conference workshop complained that they had not been given enough information about what was expected of them.
