Local government unions are planning a day of protest across the country on 18 February over government plans to raise the retirement age for public sector workers from 60 to 65 and make changes to their pension schemes.
Meanwhile, local government Unison is holding a consultative ballot on industrial action over plans to change staff pension schemes
National officer Owen Davies warned that unless the government revised its plans, which include raising the minimum age for early retirement from 50 to 55, staff would take action.
He said the proposals had caused "a mood of real resentment" and the government needed to act to prevent strikes.
