A national charity that works with young people in care is the largest recipient of money from the £125m Futurebuilders fund.

The Who Cares? Trust was awarded £1.3m of grants from the £4.2m first round of the fund which gives cash to groups that deliver public services. The trust will use the money to develop CareZone, a range of secure online services for children and young people living in foster care and children's homes.

Charities minister Fiona Mactaggart said: "Many voluntary organisations can provide solutions to problems that public services cannot deliver. The government is committed to giving the voluntary and community sector the security and stability of funding it needs to make most of what they can achieve."
