Supporting People paperwork mounts

Three of the biggest supported housing providers are to meet this week amid concerns they are "creaking" under the weight of Supporting People bureaucracy.

Hanover Housing Association, Housing 21 and Anchor Trust will draw up a strategy to convince the government to reduce the paperwork that accompanies the programme.

There is concern that service reviews carried out by different local authorities are placing conflicting demands on them.
The Office of the Deputy Prime Minister wrote to councils in January urging them to keep bureaucracy to a minimum and saying some providers believed it was affecting their services.

Geoff Loughlin, head of housing services at Housing 21, said it had to deal with over 100 administering authorities.
