MIRIAM MORRIS is leaving her post as director of marketing and communications at children's charity NCH. She is the new head of marketing and communications at Places for People, which provides housing and regeneration.

CECILIA HITCHEN is to be deputy director: children and families at Haringey Council's new children's service (incorporating and education). Hitchen joins from Hounslow Council.

Haringey has also appointed DAVID HOLMES as its new deputy director: service delivery and performance. He is currently divisional head for looked-after children at the Department for Education and Skills.


Kent Council's social services director PETER GILROY looks set to become its chief executive. His appointment is due to be formally confirmed at a council meeting on 24 March. Departing chief executive MIKE PITT  is taking on the same top job at Swindon Council. Kent is working with Swindon to improve its social services.
