Although written for a social housing readership, Helen Green covers topics that are broadly applicable to social care, writes Neil Thompson. Given the current problems in relation to recruitment and retention, this could be a very important book.

A strong message put forward is that it is important to focus on people rather than just processes. The significance of equality and diversity is emphasised.

Personally, I would have liked to see more emphasis on retention (stress is covered in one and a half pages), but I would nonetheless recommend this book for managers and human resources staff.
