A High Court judge has expressed "astonishment" over the £1m legal bill run up in a protracted case relating to a council's treatment of two disabled children.
Two separate sets of proceedings involving proposals to remove two disabled children from their parents were brought against East Sussex Council in February 2000.
Litigation was concluded through consent orders in June last year and the judge will now decide how to divide the bill.
