Children in care say it's a 'good thing'

Nearly three-quarters of looked-after children think it is a "good thing" they were taken into care, according to research published by Baaf Adoption and Fostering.

The children appreciated that being taken into care had improved their life chances and only 15 per cent rated their time in care as unhappy.

Researchers emphasised that the limited sample of 75 children was likely to have been biased because the most vulnerable young people are difficult to access and are also unlikely to volunteer to take part in a survey.

They also admitted there were well documented difficulties with the care system which should not encourage complacency.
