Mind chief accuses independent projects of hidden commercialism

Some mental health projects are hiding behind their charitable status to conceal the commercial nature of their business, Mind chief executive Richard Brook claimed.

He told delegates that some independent projects were "trying to con us" and might let down users because they did not stick to their values.

Brook said service providers were preoccupied with expanding their services rather than meeting the needs of users and that the government's social inclusion agenda was "sinking like a stone".
