One fifth of children experience text bullying

One in five young people have been bullied by email, text or via an internet chatroom, according to research by children’s charity NCH, writes Clare Jerrom.

One in 10 youngsters admitted being photographed by a mobile phone camera in a way that made them feel uncomfortable, embarrassed or threatened and 17 per cent thought that image had been sent to someone else.

While almost three quarters of those surveyed knew the bully, more than a quarter did not tell anyone.

As a result the charity and Tesco Mobile are launching an interactive website for young people to access information and advice about mobile bullying at www.stoptextbully.com
