Children’s charity Barnardo’s has called for the needs of children caring for parents with mental health problems to be addressed, writes Helen McCormack.
In a briefing published today, the charity said the role of young carers needs greater recognition.
The report – Keeping the Family in Mind – also recommends that providers of mental health care should record the parental responsibilities of their clients in order that services can better address the needs of the child.
