The minister for disabled people today encouraged people caring for others to apply for the Carers’ Allowance, writes Clare Jerrom.
As part of National Carers Week, Anne McGuire highlighted the important support that carers provide to family and friends.
“Carers Week gives us the opportunity to highlight the importance of carers and to recognise the contribution they make,” she said.
She urged carers to apply for the Carer’s Allowance, which is a benefit for people caring for people for at least 35 hours per week.
