Scots spending too long on menial jobs

Scots spending too long on menial jobs Many Scottish social workers are spending too much time on menial tasks that should be done by less skilled staff, a study has found.

Researchers looking into six social work departments and two charities find no team included the full range of support staff they consider necessary for social workers to be at their most efficient. The findings will now feed into the 21st Century Review of Social Work in Scotland.

The study identifies examples of workers performing tasks that should have been done by support staff, including personal care, financial assessments and minute-taking.
