www.dfes.gov.uk/youngpeople/index.shtml
STAR RATING: 3/5
Run by: The Department for Education and Skills
Who is it for? Young people and professionals working with young people
Highlight: The Young People’s Gateway acts as a gateway to many other sites. It brings together many of the education options open to young people, including advice on qualifications and university, with details on the relevant financial support available.
Practical advice on more generic issues such as what to do if you are being bullied and how to volunteer is also provided. The selection of links for practitioners is not so comprehensive but does include a section on funding for community groups and shouldn’t be written off.
It seems unfair to criticise this site for its design given that it only has a gateway function but visitors could get put off before accessing any of the better looking sites it links up to.
