Blogging is taking off among councillors. Never backward in coming forward, it was only a matter of time before they were all over the net. “More about me” is a common link on their homepages but some are worth a look. Councillor Stuart Bruce of Middleton in Leeds invites you to do a Q & A to find out which character from TV’s West Wing you are (see right). And there is useful stuff too like tips on managing a fear of public speaking.

The IDeA website highlights a new comic for year six pupils from Tameside to explain what the council does. One of its key aims is to avoid “disco-vicar syndrome” which is “when older people make themselves look silly by trying to appear cool”. Sadly there is no link to the comic to see if they succeed.
