Hostility to Islam in Britain is damaging the mental health of young Muslims, says the London mayor's human rights adviser.

Media sensationalism after the London bombings had an "isolating effect" on many young Muslims who were already in need of help, Yasmin Qureshi, a human rights lawyer, told the annual lecture of charity Together Working for Wellbeing.

But she acknowledged that Muslims could not continue to live exactly the same way, both culturally and religiously, as their parents once did.
