The Department for Education & Skills has appointed Naomi Eisenstadt as chief adviser on children’s services.

Eisenstadt, who is currently director of the Sure Start, Extended Schools and Families Group, will play a key part in the Every Child Matters programme and will be responsible for improving the quality of policy and practice. She takes up her new role on 1 February.

She will work closely with Sheila Shribman, the national clinical director for children, and Sue Hackman the newly-appointed chief adviser on school standards.
