Charity Coram Family and the Children and Family Court Advisory and Support Service are working on the project, which could be running within a year.

Cafcass chief executive Anthony Douglas said it could start with an online support service similar to that provided by Carers UK for young carers.

"We want to work with other online providers in the voluntary sector to see whether this is wanted and whether it can be made to work," he added.
