One of the projects threatened by the closure of charity The Maternity Alliance has been saved and more could be taken over by other groups, it emerged this week.

Born in the UK, which looks at the maternity experiences of second-generation mothers from minority ethnic groups, has been saved and will continue to be managed by City University.

A spokesperson for the charity's liquidators, Begbies Traynor, said its former directors were working with several organisations that were interested in taking over other projects.

Begbies Traynor has set a deadline of the end of January for the transfer of projects.

A lack of funds forced the charity to close in December.
