David Holmes, deputy director of children’s services in the London borough of Haringey, has been appointed as the new chief executive of Baaf Adoption and Fostering.

A solicitor by profession and former manager of the government’s child protection, adoption and looked-after children teams, Holmes will replace current chief Felicity Collier in May.

Holmes said: “I am delighted to have been appointed as Baaf's new chief executive at a time of great change and new opportunities within children’s services.”

Collier, who is to retire after 10 years at the helm of Baaf, said:  “While I am sad to leave BAAF after so many years, I am personally thrilled about David's appointment – he was my key contact at the Department for Education and Skills for three years and is very well-respected in the child care sector.”
