Review to reject guardians' overhaul

The role of children's guardians will not face radical reform under the government's care proceedings review, according to the head of England's family courts.

Sir Mark Potter this week told a conference organised by guardians' body Nagalro that the review, which is with ministers, may introduce a protocol for local authority case plans. Councils
would be expected to review and assess cases in advance of court, he added.

The care proceedings review has been criticised by lawyers' groups for focusing too much on cost-cutting.
