Bids to develop extra care housing schemes in England are being sought by the Department of Health.
In guidance published today the DH said it would only consider bids for a share of its £40 million fund from social services authorities that had not already received an extra care housing grant from the department.
Eligible bids for the 2007-8 fund will have to satisfy four criteria; impact on improving the health of older people, effective partnerships, value for money, and fit with national policy and regional and local strategies.
Bids for standard extra care housing that does not include a significant health element will not be considered, nor will those for residential or nursing care, or for assistive technology as a standalone service.
The Department of Health must receive bids by 3 October. It will announce successful bids in spring 2007.
