Jo Campling, one of the foremost figures in social care publishing, has died of cancer.

Campling edited one of the first books giving service users their own voice, Images of Ourselves: Women with Disabilities Talking, and also edited several series of publications for Palgrave Macmillan, including its British Association of Social Workers series.

She lectured in social policy for many years at Hillcroft College in south London.

On leaving Hillcroft, she set herself up as a freelance publishing consultant.
