East Sussex Council has responded to a judge’s criticisms of its practice in the case of a mother jailed for supplying Class A drugs to her son, it announced today.
The council also said it would carry out an independently-chaired, multi-agency review into the case of Emma Kelly and her son, but said details of its response to Judge Niblett, who presided over the case, would remain confidential.
Kelly was jailed for nine years last month for giving her son crack and heroin from the age of nine.
The council said the review would involve family members but it would issue no further statements on the case to protect the boy’s privacy.
