NHS bosses are calling on pay review bodies to award staff a 2 per cent rise next year in line with demands from chancellor Gordon Brown.

In evidence to the bodies who decide pay for nurses, doctors and other staff, NHS Employers said anything more would be unaffordable.

The Treasury has repeatedly called for public sector pay deals  to be based on his inflation target of 2 per cent

This will affect the Children and Family Court Advisory and Support Service, which is currently in negotiations with unions over pay, and councils, which will negotiate a deal next year.
