A Scottish social worker has been removed from the social care register after serious breaches of the social services’ code of practice in the country’s first conduct hearing.

The Scottish Social Services Council said that Mark Cambridge had broken rules governing the abuse, neglect, harm and exploitation of service users, carers or colleagues, the forming of inappropriate relationships with service users and behaving in a way that called into question his suitability to work in social services.

He had his registration with the council terminated, though full details of the case have not been released because of its sensitive nature and the need to protect vulnerable witnesses.

Meanwhile, the first conduct hearing to be held in Wales is to take place at the Dragon Hotel, Swansea, on 7 and 8 November.
