West Sussex director of social and caring services John Dixon will be the first vice-president of the Association of Directors of Adults’ Social Services.

Dixon, currently co-chair of the Association of Directors of Social Services disabilities committee, will take on the role next April and become president in 2008.

The association will be set up next year alongside the creation of the Association of Directors of Children’s Services, formed from a merger of the ADSS and the Confederation of Children's Services Managers.

Anne Williams, currently vice-president of ADSS, will be the first president of the adults’ body.
